  • We are having . . .

After much anticipation, we were finally able to find out what we are having!! All along I have felt like this baby was a boy . . . so convinced that I have been buying clothes whenever I find a good sale . . . keeping all the receipts, of course!!

So tonight we went to our ultrasound and after a few minutes of the tech looking around, she proudly announced that we were having a baby girl!! I think we were all in shock because no one said anything at first!!! I was so surprised that I asked her to check again!! I ended up needing to use the bathroom . . . thanks to the 32 ounces of cold water I had to hold in my bladder for an hour!!

When I came back, she continued with all her measurements and then all of a sudden she stopped and froze the screen and said "This baby is a boy"! I saw what she was pointing at and I totally agreed that what we were looking at were little boy parts!!! The tech was so surprised because after 4 years of doing ultrasounds, she had never called it one thing and then switched it to another!! She had me try all sorts of tricks to get a better view . . . turning on my side and walking around!! She was determined not to stop until she got a good picture!!

We came home with two very clear pictures of a boy!!! Everything looked great . . . our baby is a whopping 10 ounces and 6 inches long!!! Both ultrasounds I have had so far confirm that I am due sometime the last week of March!!! I am just about 20 weeks along . . . so I am halfway done . . . getting closer and closer to meeting our baby boy, Kyle!!!

  • Trunk or Treat!

In our house, we don't really make a big deal about Halloween!! We've talked to the girls about what the holiday is and some of our concerns with it!! Every year we let them decide what they want to do . . . this year they choose to be part of Colonial Wood's Trunk or Treat!! The didn't want to dress up . . . they just wanted to "be a light" and hand out candy!!! And boy did we . . . we easily handed out at least 3,000+ pieces of candy!! There were so many people and it was so much fun to be a part of such an awesome community event!!!

The girls had a fantastic time and amazingly kept up with the enormous flow of people!!! Shortly into it, Emmie said to me "Mommy, I thought getting candy was fun, but giving candy is so much funner!" Man, I'm proud of my girls . . . they have such HUGE hearts!!!

Here are some pics from our night . . .

  • Please watch . . .

I don't usually pay much attention to politics . . . I faithfully cast my vote on November 4th, not really giving too much thought to it!! This year is much different! The Lord has VERY strongly impressed upon my heart to "pray without ceasing" in regards to these elections. He has spoken loud and clear through many respected prophets that this election is vital to the future of this nation. I was sent this video and felt impressed to share it . . . now I know many of you feel the same exact way as I do . . . I am sick and tired of it all and I can't wait for November 5th to roll around . . . but please bear with me and take a few minutes to watch this video!!!

  • Family Update

I realized today that I have really been slacking in my Xanga duties!! It's been a whole month since I posted last and a lot has happened in that month!!!

The girls are doing fabulous in school!! They absolutely love their teachers and have both adjusted beautifully to their new routines!! They come home everyday and play "school" until dinnertime!! I just may have a few teachers on my hands!!!

Chris is completely swamped with work . . . which is a huge blessing . . . thank you Jesus . . . but also a huge pressure when he is the only employee and the entire workload falls on his shoulders!! He has been following in the footsteps of his father and pulling A LOT of late nighters!!! I don't think the poor guy has made it to bed before 2 AM in a few weeks!! He is such a dedicated worker and excels in everything he does!! God has truly opened up the flood gates of heaven over his business and we continue to stand in awe and gratefulness for what God is doing in this area of our lives!!!

I am feeling wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have safely made it through the first trimester!! My energy level is back and the days of me feeling sick all day have passed!!! I saw the doctor a few weeks back and had an ultrasound and everything looked great!! We were able to hear the baby's heart beat and see our little one moving all around on the ultrasound!!! According to the ultrasound, my due date is March 28 . . . which is a whole week and a half earlier than what the doctor thought!! I knew I was further along then he anticipated and I am totally ok with him moving my due date up!!! We should be able to find out who this baby is in the next few weeks!! At this point, we just want a healthy baby and have no strong feelings either way . . . a girl would be easy because we have all the clothes and know what to expect but a boy would be fun because there aren't any boys in the family!!! My parents have 4 granddaughters and Chris' parents have 5 granddaughters . . . so a boy would be a great addition at this point!! We shall see . . .

Here is a picture that Kayla took of me yesterday . . . 14.5 weeks along!!!

  • First Day of School

With great anticipation, this day has finally arrived!!! Today Kayla started second grade and Emmie started all-day kindergarten!!!!! I must say that we all did really well!!!

Over the past few weeks, we've talked a lot about school and what to expect and I could tell that with every conversation, Emmie got a bit more nervous!!! When I look at her, I totally see myself . . . unsure and anxious about new situations!!! I could tell that there was a part of her that was really excited, but the fear and anxiety was much greater!! What a big change for a 4-year-old to go from being with me everyday to being at school for 7 hours, 5 days a week!!!

As we put the girls to bed last night, we prayed over them that God would replace their fears with His peace, love and joy!!! I could tell that there was a battle going on in Emmie's head . . . shortly after putting them to bed, I went into check on them and Emmie was still tossing and turning!! I crawled into bed with her and asked her what was wrong . . . she said, "Well Mommy, I was just laying here thinking about tomorrow and do you want to know what God said to me? He said, Emily, you can do this!! You can do this!!!" As she said it, I literally saw the peace of God fall on her!!! She hugged me, kissed me and gave me one of her precious smiles!!!

As I left her room, I was in tears . . . I can't tell you how good it feels to know that your 4-year-old can hear the voice of God!! Not only hear it, but recognize that it's Him and allow His words to bring peace! Amazing!! With tears in my eyes, I wandered into our room, where Chris was importing an old tape he had found from our video camera!! As I approached his computer, I realized that he was importing the tape from when I delivered Emmie!! I sat there watching, with tears streaming down my face . . . trying to figure out how she has grown up so quickly!!! Wow, what a moment!!!

As I sit here in my far too quiet house, I must say that I am so very proud of our girls!! They are a gift and have blessed us so very much!! Although this growing up thing is not always the easiest, I have to say that I am excited about the future that God has for both of them!!

  • Guess what?!?!?

    I

    AM

    PREGNANT!!!!!

After almost five years of praying about having another child, God has answered our prayers!!! I am about seven weeks along and I am definitely "feeling" pregnant!! We are all so excited and feel such a peace about our future!! I haven't seen my doctor yet, but according to my calculations, I will be due around April 5, 2009!

The girls are very excited! They decorated "Big Sister" t-shirts which they proudly wore when we told the family!! My sweet little Emmie is already kissing and hugging my belly!! And after seeing the double rainbow on Sunday night, she told us that the first rainbow was "God's promise to never flood the earth again" and the second rainbow was "God's promise that this baby would be healthy and strong"!! AMEN!!

We would greatly appreciate and welcome any prayers since we are still in the early stages of pregnancy!!!

  • A day with my girls . . .

Today the girls and I went to Marysville Splash Park!! It was a gorgeous day for fun in the sun!! The girls had a blast cooling off in the splash park and as always, I enjoyed "sunning" myself!!!

I realized that I had never taken my girls there . . . and I have so many memories from when I was a kid playing at the Marysville Park with my friends!!! It was neat to see my girls on the very toys that I had played on as a child!!!

The day flew by and before we knew it, we had been gone for 4 hours!! I just love days like this . . .

  • Summertime . . .

It's hard to believe that summer is half over already!! This is my favorite time of year and I hate to think that in just six short weeks, my babies will be going off to school!!! Let's not go there right now!! LOL

We have enjoyed an awesome summer so far with A LOT of family time!!! It seems like we are always busy and bedtimes are getting later and later for the girls!! As always they have been little troopers and just kinda roll with the punches!!!

We had a fabulous visit with Grandma, Tiff and Steve!! The week flew by and we would have loved to keep them around awhile longer!! Each day was jam packed with fun things to do . . . Lexington, swimming, bonfire, cookouts, the boardwalk and lots of eating!! lol We were able to get a ton of things done for Tiff's wedding which was a huge relief for all of us!! In one day, we managed to book the wedding/reception location, the florist, the cake and the photographer!! Hard to believe that in less than a year, little Tiffany Elise will be a married woman!! I think I'm getting old . . .

This week, the girls have been attending VBS at Colonial Woods and have LOVED it!!! It's been neat to see them walk into a new situation with confidence!!! Tomorrow is the last night and already Kayla is asking if they can go again next week!!! I had to break it to her that they have to wait another year before the next one!! She wasn't to fond of that idea!! lol I am VERY impressed with this VBS . . . incredibly organized, amazingly staffed, and full of excitement!!! Plus, over 100 kids have given their lives to Jesus this week!!!!!

We still have a lot we want to do before the summer is over, so I'm hoping the next six weeks will go by really slow!!!! Although with the ads full of school supplies already, it's hard not to think about September 2!! I actually was able to tour Landmark last week with Tiff and I saw my girl's new classrooms!! I hate to admit it, but it kinda made me excited for the year to start . . . but just a little!!! For now I am so happy to have my girls home!!!

Hope everyone in Xangaland is enjoying their summer!! Be blessed!!!!!
